Ludger Vollmer has become known both at home and abroad primarily as an opera composer. His full-length operas have appeared and are appearing in Vienna (State Opera), Bremen, Istanbul, Stuttgart, Cologne, Karlsruhe, Darmstadt, Duisburg, Nordhausen, Regensburg, Hagen, Freiburg, Weimar, Hamburg, and Chemnitz, among others. Vollmer has composed works in all genres. His oeuvre has been performed on all continents and has received numerous awards. Vollmer studied with Alfred Schnittke, Dimitri Terzakis, and Peter Jarchow. His compositions are published by Schott Music GmbH. He has taught various positions, including at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, Austria. He has been President of the Hamburg State Music Council since 2020 and Chairman of the Hamburg Regional Association of the German Composers Association since 2021. Ludger Vollmer is a member of the Free Academy of the Arts Hamburg and lives in Hamburg.
